Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Therapy

SKIN COMPLEXION

OVERVIEW

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy is a versatile, non-invasive cosmetic treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target and treat various skin concerns at once. Unlike lasers, IPL delivers multiple wavelengths simultaneously, allowing it to address pigmentation, vascular concerns, and overall skin tone in a single session. It is highly effective for rosacea, sun spots, spider veins, and overall photo-rejuvenation.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Reduces sun spots, freckles, and age spots

  • Treats redness, rosacea, and visible blood vessels

  • Improves overall skin tone and clarity

  • Can also be used for permanent hair reduction

  • Minimal downtime — pigmented spots temporarily darken before fading

IDEAL CANDIDATE

Clients with sun damage, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, spider veins, or uneven skin tone. Best suited for lighter skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III). Not recommended for active tans or very dark skin tones.

THE PROCESS

How it works…

Consultation

Skin is assessed for candidacy. A patch test will be performed to confirm skin response.

Preparation

Skin is cleansed and a cool gel is applied to the treatment area. Protective eyewear is provided.

Treatment

The IPL handpiece delivers pulses of light to the skin. Patients describe a sensation similar to a rubber band snap. Sessions typically take 20–45 minutes.

Post-treatment

Pigmented lesions will temporarily darken ("coffee ground" effect) before flaking off over 1–2 weeks. Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF diligently.

Results

Most clients see significant improvement after 3–5 sessions spaced 3–4 weeks apart. Annual maintenance sessions help preserve results.
